Despite being located close to Galle and some of the worst affected areas of Sri Lanka, the Lighthouse hotel was largely undamaged by the Tsunami. The hotel is positioned above sea level and is protected by a group of rocks. The spa and lower swimming pool area were destroyed by the Tsunami, however these are currently being rebuilt and are due to re-open in April 2005.
Location: The Lighthouse Hotel & Spa sits atop a hillock overlooking the blue waters of the Indian Ocean. It is situated within 2 km of the Living World Heritage City of Galle boasting the Dutch fort built in the year 1505. Lighthouse Hotel is also well located for rain forest walks and visits offering a wide array of bird life, other fauna and flora. It now boasts the addition of a fully fledged Spa.
